Woodlake Resort &
Country Club is a gated,
lakefront golf community
located 20 minutes north
of the historic village
of Pinehurst, North
Carolina. The 1,200 acre
private lake is the
centerpiece of a
beautiful resort
community where
residents and guests
experience lakefront
living, boating, fine
dining, and World Class
Golf on 36 exceptional
holes.
Two of the true legends
of golf course
architecture, Arnold
Palmer and Ellis Maples,
teamed up to design
Woodlake’s two
championship golf
courses. The original
course, The Maples
Course, was built by Ed
Seay and Ellis Maples in
1971 and is described by
many golfers as one of
the most challenging and
beautiful in the
Southeast with lush
Bentgrass greens and
hybrid bermuda fairways
winding gracefully
around the lake. The
Palmer Course was
completed in 1995 and is
a combination of Dan
Maples and Arnold
Palmer-Ed Seay, inspired
by Palmer’s belief in
fair and challenging
golf for all levels of
play. As testimony to
the excellent condition
and championship layout,
Woodlake has hosted the
Carolinas' PGA Match
Play Championship, the
North Carolina State
High School
Championships, and
numerous local
professional and amateur
golf championships.
Both the Woodlake-Maples
and Woodlake-Palmer
courses play around the
largest privately owned,
man-made lake in North
Carolina and a
full-service clubhouse,
The Historic Oates
House, built in 1792.
The Oates House is a
magnificent reminder of
colonial North Carolina
and conjures up images
of “Gone with the Wind”
while serving as the
main clubhouse and
social center of the
community. The LakeView
Dining Room and outside
terraces offer casual
and fine dining with
panoramic views of the
lake. |
